Is it normal to have a Management Company PLUS a separate Maintenance Company?

So basically we pay a monthly fee to the Management and a separate monthly fee to the Maintenance.

The Maintenance Company is a subsidiary of the Management Company.

This two entities seems a little fishy. It seems Maintenance is just Management is another name.

Welcome to HOATalk, JK. What are the duties of this "Maintenance Co." as stated in you HOA's contract with it?? What are the duties of your Mgt. Co. per the contract?

We have a Mgmt. Co., and a separate janitorial company and a separate engineering company. But we're a high rise HOA so pretty complicated.

Our Mgmt. Co does offer security services, which we do use and janitorial services, which we do not use. So, it doesn't seem unusual for this two that you have to be separate.
