We have about 5 acres and want to put in a play ground and dog park. And with the excess space will just be open green space with shade trees. We're wanting to model it off of the new master planned community's. We kinda know what we want to do but are looking for some one who has knowledge with designing Master planned community's and is willing to help. How exactly would we go about finding some one with that knowledge?

Go to to your city or a city parks and recreation department. I did when planned a possible play ground. They may know of some used equipment to sell too. Be careful with play ground equipment and their warranties. Some of those products have limits on how many can use it before the warranty is invalid. I found those play ground stores have limits on use. Some say as little as 6. If this is public area you will have issues with them. Best to find more commercial equipment like public parks use.

Btw... Our insurance company said having a playground did not effect our insurance. We already had a pool. Check with them first before proceeding.

There may be some landscaping specialists of some sort who can design the space for you - your property manager may have some suggestions, or perhaps your landscaping service providers, such as lawnmower services, as well as the city parks department.

You might also check your local colleges and universities - some may have a landscaping design program and you can get some contacts that way. It might also be an interesting project for a really bright student or a class (working under the supervision of an expert)

Do an internet search on playground designers, there are a lot of references.

A search on city park designers will give different references

Interesting, the OP's post count is at zero which gives an indication they may have registered to ask the question and then resigned from the forum. Hopefully it's just a glitch in the software.

While this thread is open, I'm curious if any of you have a dog park in your community, and how has that worked out? Have you found any increase in your insurance?

He had a post count of > 1 when this post first showed up earlier today, I forget exactly how many, but 16 rings a bell so he's posted before. Not sure why he'd de-register now, none of the replies was snarky.
