I received a certified letter today from The Nobles Company who manage my unit at Egret Run in Pawleys Island, SC. They sent two pictures along with a letter regarding common area violations. The pictures weren't even taken in my community! I feel as though I'm being harassed. Do I have any rights? Is there a way to file a cpmplaint? If so, who would I file a complaint with?

Anne,

Mangers and Board members are human and, as humans, make mistakes.
They may have sent the wrong pictures for the violation or sent the violation to the wrong address.

Politely write back and inform them that the issue isn't yours. Then identify items in the photos that indicate it's not your community.

I'm pretty sure SC doesn't have an ombudsman or other state office to assist homeowners with HOA issues. Unfortunately, that leaves the courts as the authority to resolve conflicts, and that can be very expensive even if you win.

As Tim suggested, your best course of action is to contact the management company and try to resolve this directly with them. Barring that, you can contact your HOA board of directors directly, but they might not want to override the manager that they've hired to handle day to day operations.

Yes, do as other suggest. First, calm yourself. Politely contact the MC with the correct info. Btw, please note the posting rules: no names of any entities including HOAs and Mgmt. companies.

Was the letter accessing you specifically of a violation or was it generic in nature as in showing a typical violation?
