Im looking for a all in one camera system. We have gates that we need to have cameras on for damage reasons. The cameras would have to be on a pole and have some form of box on them to contain the dvr. They may have to be connect to the internet as theres no way to have a monitor in there to. Does any one know how we could set this up?

We have a place called the spy shop. They offer survelliance systems. However, best advice would come from a company that installs equipment and law enforcement. Do not assume filming an incident is prosecutable. Need to find out what laws apply first. It is not always as simple as installing a camera and press record. You may need to post signage. Make sure can use in court. What if this is more insurance claim than legal matter?

We have 26 of 'em, John, but I don't know much about the system. there's no requirement to post signs saying that we have them (in CA) so far as I know. AL may be different.

We never have had to go to court with tapes from the system. Security provide us (the Board) with pics and we call the Owners of the unit who did the damage to a hearing and assess that unit the cost of the repair(s). So....they are very effective is showing who caused damage even though rare in our HOA.

John,

As the posting rules prohibit the mentioning of names, companies, etc., if you email me, I'll give you the name of a wireless system I installed at my recently purchased home. You will need internet service for the cameras router, but that is all. The camera are battery operated and turn on when motion is detected. Night vision is fair, not great but fair. They claim 25 feet but, in reality, when used outside, I would give it 15 feet to see faces.

If you have power at the location, then you can get a wireless (i.e. wireless transmission) camera that has better night vision from other companies. Again, you would need a good wireless internet signal at that location.

All of the major surveillance cameras can do this. Lorex, NightHawk and Sawnn. My recommendation for internet access is to get a wi-fi gateway hotspots for each system.
If you have 2 separate entrances and exits then you'll need 2 gateway hot spots . Our HOA would not listen to reason and was paying nearly $150 a month for 2 gates for internet service.

Check your area for Vivint internet.. there are ways that are relatively cheap in the long run to beam wi-fi through the community and you can monitor more areas
without expense hot spot widgets.
