I know that they are allowed, but I'm trying to gain support for having them at the entrances to our neighborhood to merely help deter would-be solicitors. There is a second group that just wants each individual to put up their own personal signs at their own doors (believing that the neighborhood signs would be ugly, not do any good, or stop "cub scouts" - their own kids - from soliciting).
I understand their points, but not one of them sounds valid provided you find a tasteful sign. I'd be interested to know what other neighborhoods have done, and why?
