I'm moving to Orange County, CA soon and I'm having a hard time with my house hunt. I can look at beautiful townhomes online all day, but it's next to impossible to track down the HOA's pet rules. None of these HOAs seem to have websites or phone numbers. Is there a way that I can narrow down where I am allowed to have my Rottweiler?

Jennifer,

Welcome to the forum.

Your Realtor should be able to help you obtain a copy of the pet policy or a contact for the Association.

The problem is I don't even know where to start, or what communities to direct further inquiries to. Is there no easy way? Is it hopeless to even find an HOA that allows Rottweilers?

If you want to keep the dog, my suggestion is cross off townhomes or condo for that breed of dog. Please read the link provided below. You might consider a larger, single family detached home community. Many smaller communities and closed in type of communities, such as a townhome or condo are drafting rules prohibiting certain types of dogs.

Yes, contact your Realtor and explain your concerns.
Realtors normally know the market and developments well enough to assist with these type of things.
If you find a Realtor that can't help you, dismiss them and find another.

It's that easy
