One of our oversized mailboxes at our condominium has a door which has come off and we are being told by the Post Office workers that they do not perform those kinds of repairs. Is this typical that the Post Office does not maintain the oversize boxes in which they place packages, etc?

We are a community in Georgia and I would assume the responsibilities would not be state-dependent.

We have been going in circles with the Post Office worker and no resolution to date. I am inclined to tell the other board members to just hire someone to do the job.

Carolyn

As the typical rule, the Association owns, repairs and maintains the postal boxes, but the boxes arre under regulations from the US Government (USPS). This mean nothing can be attached to them, nor can items be placed inside that were not done so by the US Government, specifically, the USPS.

So, it sounds like the HOA needs to go ahead and get this repaired.

Thanks for your feedback.

If you go to mailboxes.com, they sell these types of mailboxes and they might be able to help in parts for repairs.

Yes, I agree your HOA needs to fix it. Our banks of mailboxes in our two lobbies mail rooms area part of our reserves schedule, i.e., they have an estimated life and replacements cost. You may want to consider receiving for yours too, Carolyn.
