Good day! Will be transferring to a new community very soon with my partner. In fact, we are already packing our stuff. Question, after checking out the house, we've thought of replacing its old AC unit with the one we've always wanted to buy from newacunit.com, I would just like to know what do I have to do or comply for the HOA (the main reason why I joined the forum) before talking again with them next week so I can weigh in on our plan. Thanks!

You need to read and understand your governing documents (which include the CC&Rs, the Articles of Incorporation, the Bylaws and any resolutions (example: architectural guidelines).

If you are unsure, prior to entering into a contract for work, ask the Association if the work needs to have prior approval or not and, if it does, what forms or procedures need to be followed.

Tim is right, Dory. The folks to ask are at your new HOA. Many HOAs have different rules and guidelines and no one here can guess what is required re: AC units, if anything, in your new HOA. Good luck!

You should probably also review the forums posting rules
