We are revising our Bylaws and want to include provisions on rescheduling a Board Meeting if a quorum is not present. Our current Bylaws do not cover this.
We hold Board Meetings once a month.
In reading other Bylaws I have seen next day, or week. What seems to work for other HOA's? We really don't want to wait another month for the next meeting.

When I was on the board, we did have a few occasions where the meeting was called because of lack of quorum - in most cases, we didn't have any time-sensitive issues to deal with, so we could wait until the next month. That would be my primary concern here and suggest you old your meeting no later than a week after the previous meeting date - board members will just have to make the time to show up (unless they have an extreme emergency such as illness). You can always hold a shorter meeting to deal with those issues only and leave everything else for the next regularly scheduled meeting

Otherwise, as long as you get the meeting in before the end of the month, you may not need to specify a specific time after the previous date. Another concern would be in notifying homeowners that the meeting has changed in case they wanted to come - hopefully you can send email blasts or post something at your clubhouse if you have one.

I'm thinking, Amy, that you don't want to pin down any Board to a specify time when this meeting must occur.

Amy,

Personally, I don't think the Bylaws should say anything about scheduling board meetings except to mention the minimum number required (typically no less then once per quarter).

Let the Board members make their own schedule of meetings.
This should minimize meetings with no quorum.

Here in the Land of Lincoln, homeowners must receive at least two days' notice of board meetings, so if we have to reschedule, we have to re-notice.

Thanks, You all gave me something to think about and bring to our next committee meeting. I agree pinning an exact time/date would be hard and also have to remember about giving notice.
