The Body Snatchers are coming.

Run

Run Fast

Run Far

Do Not Fall Asleep

oops

You probably mean a Portable On Demand storage unit.

Do your Covenants prohibit them ?

Will it impede the flow of traffic ?

? What is the issue ?

other than, like me, you have free time

Our experience was positive. POD was here when they said it would. Gone when they said it would.

We allow them in their assigned parking spaces.

We might allow them in unassigned spaces on a case by case basis.

We do not allow them in areas designated as no parking.

Remember, the alternative to a POD is a moving van. Maybe a BIG tractor/trailer. Even if only present for part of a day it is likely to be more disruptive.

What does the association documents say? Does it permit temporary structures?

In our community, that required an architectural change request (ACR) that the board would have to approve. We have a city street going through our community, so if the homeowner wanted it there, the answer would likely be no. For the streets owned by the association, it would depend on where the POD would be located because we're a townhouse community and there's not a ton of parking to begin with.

The last time we had one of these things in the community, the owner (renter, actually) put it in their assigned parking space. It wasn't a great place, as it created something of a blind spot. The owner not paying assessments and the renter not asking permission was a larger issue. In the end, the company came out and removed the POD because - these folks hadn't even paid THEM!

I've seen similar companies where they bring in the storage unit in the morning then come to pick it up in the evening - maybe there's something similar in your community these folks might consider???? And I'd still require the homeowner to get permission from the Board first

Is this an issue of aesthetics, an issue of safety, an issue with parking spaces, or what?

Assuming that they will get the container unloaded in four days, what is the problem? Even if there is some serious offense to sensibilities of the association, the container will be gone before the notice of violation can be approved and delivered.

Does your association have any jurisdiction over the street? Do your CC&R's address how long and by what means an owner may move in or out?

I tell them to leave 20' clearance from the side of the POD to the building on the other side of the drive. Fire Dept. decided on 20'.

It is usually a one time thing. Have never had a problem with them and I am not going to start looking for one.
