This has probably been around for awhile. However, it's the first time I received anything like it in my dedicated Treasurers inbox.

The following E-mail was received:

Subject: Your Invoice

Dear Treasure,

Please see attached (scanned document) file for your invoice.

Thanks and best regards

Edgar Klein,
Delivery Manager

Note the misspelling of the word Treasurer.
The attached document was a zip file (not a pdf as one would expect)

If you receive a similar e-mail, DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT
No, I did not open the attachment. Instead, I reported the issue to a spam reporting service and am letting everyone here know.

I would expect the attached zip file to be full of executables, spyware and malware.
I personally have no desire to find out for sure.

Definitely do NOT open an email attachment from someone you don't know. While reporting it can't hurt it's probably a waste of time.

Reporting can be good if you use the right service.
The service I use (which is free) sends reports (with your info removed if desired) to the administrators of the e-mail source and the administrator of every link identified in the e-mail. They also keep statistics and add it to there spam filtering database.

Some web hosting services embrace to the spammers and malware/spyware users. Reporting will do nothing for those sites.

Other web hosting services will terminate the accounts. Reporting will work for those sites.

There have been a rash of these lately, I assume the attachments have a virus payload.
