Our community is gated with a guard at each entrance. Inside our community is another gated community so there is no thru access to our clubhouse. This is gated on either end of the thru access. You must call a resident to enter. They have now made on of the gates ext only with a transponder that onky residents have access to. So now, we can call a resident to get in either gate, but cannot exit through bith gates.
Probably confusing, but we are, too! We can get in, but can't get out? Lol

Yes
Is this legal? It would seem a little dangerous to not be able to exit

We can still exit at one gate but not the other. We can get in both gates but out only one. The one we can get out is at the other end of where a lot of people live. We have to go along a road that was illegally built and is dangerous (along a lake with no guard rails, just big rocks and lots of pedestrian traffic. It also has a shed in the middle that you can't see around to see if anyne is coming.

You are an accessory to the crime, either before/after the fact.

Your 'hands are dirty' so quit your bit*@ing.

What? This is what I get from here when I am asking a legitimate question?

Don't mind PitA, he gets cranky at times

As for your question, I think it's probably within their power and scope of authority to designate the gates as entrances and/or exits as they see fit as long as the roads are private. We have one gate that's both the entrance and exit to our 100-home subdivision. The developer here got his plans approved by the county way back when and there's no hand-wringing going on over the fact that there's no alternative/emergency exit. Maybe your county planning commission would have something to say regarding traffic patterns, but in my opinion the HOA's board probably does have the power to make those changes even if it inconveniences some homeowners.

Thanks for the info, GenoS...
I should have said probably illegal but for sure dangerous.
I will check with the county commissioner.

I would also check with the company that issued my HO Insurance.

? What, they cancelled upon notification of this condition ?

I would suspect that their are laws addressing ingress and egress.
It might be worth the Board seeking a legal opinion and, perhaps, a letter from the attorney to the other Association.

Thank you, TimB. I thunk things might take care of themselves...there seems to be an uproar in that gated coopmmunity.
