Former renter now homeowner

My husband, 10 year old daughter and myself have lived in a small HOA(17 homes)for three years now. The former owner and us have a private contract.Over a year ago a new president and treasurer(mother and son)took over and nothing has been the same. No one has a copy a the bylaws, no one has been alowed to see the books and a significant amount of savings is unaccounted for and any time you try to inquire with these two you risk them getting violent. I just need to know who to contact to enforce Colorados HOA laws of which these two have violated several.. Please help, We have loved this neighborhood and tried to contribute as much as a renter is allowed but now we are owners and still feel like we have no rights.

Deb, you can advise them that the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act (CCIOA) requires every Common Interest HOA (manditory assessment) to provide owners certain information every year and the right to inspect record upon request.
