I live in a HOA and would like to know if an HOA can have co-presidents.

I was wrong. We do not have a vice president...We have 2 co-presidents, 1 secretary and 1 treasurer

Then it sounds like one of them is filling the position of VP but to save feelings, are calling them co-presidents.

Per NM non-profit corporate statute, applicable if your Association is registered as a non-profit (most are, but check to be sure), the Association must have the officers mentioned in the Bylaws and may have any other officers the Board deems necessary.

Therefore, I wouldn't necessary worry about it.

Technically, the President of an Association has very little authority. They appear to have a lot of authority because they are typically the face and voice of the Board of Directors. However, the Bylaws typically only specify that they preside at meetings (run the meeting) and sign official documents of the Association. Any other authority must be granted by the Board and the Board makes decisions by majority vote.
