What do other condo associations use as wording for their pool and also the fitness room when it comes to children?
At the present time, our pool rules read(among other things) that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult..not sure
if this age is too young... maybe 16? or 14? Also, I have seen children 10 years old hurting themselves on the tread mill and other equipment and we have NO signage pertaining to age limits for he fitness room. I am concerned about liabilities. Sometimes in the fitness room, a parent will come in with 2-4 of their young children and the kids have hurt themselves and the parent seems to not care about anything that goes on. I am thinking that there should be a sign about age limits in the fitness facility. Other places MUST have signage for the pool and perhaps signage for the fitness room. I would like examples of what others use

Alex,

If you do an internet search on fitness room age restrictions you will get a lot of examples.

This probably is too much information Alex, We are two high rises with a 25 story elevation on each very close to the pools, so noise issues are more important here--maybe--than in your HOA. There might requirements in your municipality or OK that are different than what we have here. We do not want a lot of written rules at the pool area itself to avoid the cheap-motel look, so only have No Diving and a warning about certain people avoiding the spa, which I assume are state or muni requirements.

I do think you could b get into liability issues if you permit children to use the gym. But I'm not a lawyer. Check with your HOA counsel or perhaps your HOA's insurance agent will know. WE have two camera monitors at the pool, but none in the gym.

SWIMMING POOL AND SPA AREA

Reservations of the pool or barbecue areas are not possible.

I believe that I have good wording for a sign that goes on the pool entry gate... BUT our sign says 12 years and younger must be with parent supervision.... I am thinking that that is not right.. Does that mean(yes it does) that a 13 year old or a 14 year old is old enough to be on their own? Legally, I do not know.

As it pertains to the fitness room, at what age does a child(young person) NOT need parent supervision in with all of that equipment, etc. Just the other day, I saw a young person.. maybe 10 years old, fall off of the tread mill even though the kid's mother was there next to him reading a book on the tread mill.

My post can give you some ideas for your board to make pool rues, but, once again, I think you need to know OK or muni laws about ages alone in the pool or ask your HOA attorney or ins. agent

We do not want a lot of written rules at the pool area itself to avoid the cheap-motel look,

Kerry glad to see you're keeping it simple.

Studies show that 5 out of 4 people have problems with fractions

You're funny, Glen!

At nearly 15 y.o. we've made almost no changes to all of those pool & gym rules. We did lift the limit on #s of folks (5) in the spa because it hasn't been a problem.

The only posted ones are required by gov. agencies.

I still don't think Alex should post anythings till he knows his local codes, etc.
