We have been locked in a protracted dispute with our HOA over a few simple requests. I recently asked for a variance for our home and the response was have someone else do it for you.

- Can the HOA board as part of an accommodation demand someone else do a task?

- Can the HOA board chose not to act on my request and focus on the ability of minors to do tasks? Both of my kids have autism - they are wanting medical information on them now, even though I didn't request the variance for them, I requested it for me.

What is the variance you are asking for and how is FHA involved? I'm sorry but your post isn't very clear about what you seek.

I believe that a simple statement from your doctor saying said environment is a requirement or will produce medical benefits for your children would be enough.

I believe that this is likely what the Association is looking for, as it prevents those who are claiming such protections of reasonable accommodation who are not really entitled to them.

You may also want to direct those questions directly to the FHA or an organization about autism who likely have more experience in what you can be asked to provide and how to word such requests of reasonable accommodation to comply with the various applicable laws.
