On Tuesday no mail was delivered to our building due to our driveway being repaired. The Care Center adjacent to us is paying for the repair entryway to both buildings. Later when the entire parking lot is resurfaced we will share this cost with the care center.

The above paragraph is given for background information.

When I got home from work Tuesday I had a note for our CCO that we needed to talk. She gave her phone number which she rarely shares with anyone. So I called her and she told me "we are having a conference...." After questioning I learned another board member was in her unit.

This Board member and another owner had tried to go the he Post Office about this issue, but the post office was closed. So The Board member and other owner were planning on going to the Post Office Wednesday to make arrangements for us to get our mail. (Our PM had tried to call, but the person he needed to talk to at the post office never returned his call.) Our CCO told me I should go to the post office. I told her that I was working. Then she told me that was just an excuse. I probably should have told her I would be glad to go on my day off in a few days.

Tuesday was the only day our mail was not delivered thanks to our Secretary and one of our owners.

After reading post by Walt and responses by others on this site, I am so thankful that our CCO is not like Walt.

Yes, we did know that the driveway was going to be repaired, we just did not know when the work was going to start. We could have been better prepared if we would have known exactly when the work was going to start. The care center had control of the start time.

AGAIN, Bonnie, you are concerned with something which is NOT HOA business.

Refer your CCO to the USPS for any mail concerns.

Remind same that the HOA is NOT a 'nanny'.

I would refer the CCO to the Post Office as it has nothing to do with HOA business or control. Plus your work is excuse? I would have said "Yes it is an excuse and a good one. You got any better one?". I had several CCO's in our HOA. I made a rule of if you had an issue, you came to a meeting in person to present your issue in front of everyone in the OPEN meeting. The other option is that you put it in writing if you can not attend. However, if you submitted in writing it still would be read in front of EVERYBODY and you would have to agree to whatever we decided. My policy included ANY issues you have has to have a solution right or wrong. If you do not have a solution in mind... we will make one for you whether you like it or not. So I suggest that you think of result or you have no issue at all.

I found that once people got the drift their complaints were NOT kept "secret" or "confidential" then they had to swallow their own pill. It's not like we did not keep certain things confidential like personal issues. This was more in regards to complaints or people wanting the HOA to spend money on their projects.

Bonnie, I believe you've received this advice in the past: When any resident contacts you with a "concern," tell her/him politely to put the concern in writing to the Board via your property mgr. I can't grasp why you keep putting yourself in these situations?!

You should not have tried to justify not going to the post office. Why should the HOA president go? You are not anyone's errand girl! Since when can an owner give the prez or any director or vendors orders!!??

This was not only a concern of this one resident. It was also a concern of mine. I wanted to get my mail also. I did not want the post office to return our mail as undeliverable. Some items can be put in writing and addressed at the next Board meeting, but in my opinion this was not one of those items.

After the fact my sister told me just about what you told me about not having to justify not going to the Post Office and I agree with that.

We have had an owner attempt to give directions to our PM. Our Secretary asked this owner if she would like to join the Board and of course she said "no".

Just to let people know that I am glad our CCO is not like Walt without adding to his Post that seems to go on for infinity.
