I would like to know what guidelines other HOA’s have in their Declarations for solar panels. We have our first request so we are considering limitations on quantity of panels/square foot area and installation locations.
I am familiar with Maryland's H.B.117 ruling that HOA's can not have restrictions that cause significant reduction in panel efficiency or increase in costs.
We are a single home development with 2,500 – 3,500 sq ft size homes.
Appreciate any feedback everyone can provide.
Thank you

One thing to remember is that solar panel technology is changing all the time. The big bulky panels from the past are still available but there are lighter slimmer more efficient panels available.

The MD bill would supersede our restrictions which limit panels to the rear of the property.
We also specify that the Association will not be required to prune, top or remove any tree for the sole purpose of increasing light to any installed panel.
