IS IT ADVISABLE TO RUN AN HOA WITHOUT A MC? I HAVE BEEN IN HOA'S IN THE PAST WITHOUT MC'S. THE MONEY SAVED WAS A LARGE AMOUNT. THE BOARD WAS OPEN, TOO ALL. THINGS WERE HANDLED BY THE MEMBERS, SUCH AS BILL PAYING, COLLECTING DUES, AND COMPLIANTS. WE HAVE 73 HOMES IN OUR HOA. IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS. WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYBODY WITH SOME THOUGTHS ON THIS. THANKS BILL G

We had HOA & Managing Co in FL. No - - - - good. We bought in TN. HOA only. Officers won't talk. Still not right. Best deal, No - - - - HOA. Jack Tucker

Bill, so long as you have members willing and qualified to perform the daily functions required it is never necessary to employ a MC. Unfortunately, good Board members burn out and some members are not knowledgeable of the laws or competent to manage the HOA. Also, don't presume that all MCs are expensive; we have saved many HOAs more than we are paid.
