I noticed several commercial vehicles parked in our community lots, against Rules and Regs. Called partrol service and was informed that they are aware of the vehicles but can't tow because the vehicles are safelisted.

Is it possible for an HOA to allow this? Seems contradictory the meaning of the rule.

Sorry to be so dense, but what is "safe listed?" Yes, i know I can look it up, but I want to see the poster's definition.

Owner can get vehicle listed (protected) when they go on vacation and will have car parked for more than 96 hours.

The answer is yes. The question is how long are they safe listed for? We had made exceptions if it was warranted.

Communities sometimes go overboard with commercial vehicles. I don't have a problem allowing as long as they are not 18 wheelers. Also, it would depend on the type of community.

The rule you state is there to prevent the long term storage of vehicles on common area, not people you happen to go on vacation ONCE a year.

I understand the rule, some of these vehicles are used on a daily basis, some have been stored for weeks. It is probably another example of poor management.

As an exception, no problem. Storing, absolutely not. It is not poor management, safe listing a stored vehicle falls on the shoulders of the BOD.

Correct, BOD is poor too. 1/2 of them violate the rules, then call homeowners to hearings and impose fines. Not just unethical, probably illegal.

There in lies your problem, the BOD.

I think I recall other complaints form you, Thomas, about your board and your PM, yes?

In any case, visit the "Bad Board...." thread for a little advice about getting rid of a rogue board.

Correct Kerry, same complaints. Have tried for years to recruit good homeowners to get on BOD with me with zero success. Almost had 2 but both thought it was easier to move.

thanks for the direction.

The safe list is a good idea but the problem is your BOD never cracked down on illegal/improper parked vehicles thus the safe list is not the problem. The problem in the lax attitude of the BOD.
