Are there any Condos or HOAs with a social media policy that would like to share/

Our policy is to not use it.

We maintain a website which contains information for the membership, residents and potential buyers.
We have no desire to enter into social media.

My HOA spent sometime discussing the pros and cons of an HOA Social Chat Forum. We decided not to do such as we felt it could turn into a bytching session as some of our Chief Complaining Officers (CCO's) are always looking for ways to vent. We felt the few could ruin it for all.

We did have a monthly Email Newsletter. It was originally started by 3 dissenters. After a few bytching articles, two of them lost interest and the 3rd decided to make it more pro-HOA. After a few editions he tired of doing it. No one stepped forward to keep it going so it died.

We do have a general Email address where mail gets read by our BOD and MC.

I say an informational, upbeat, etc. web site is the way to go versus an interactive chat board. We are working on such an approach.

We have no official policy but I would stay far away from it. This social media and networking phenomena appeal to the lowest-common-denominator in people, in my opinion. Unless you're a company trying to sell and market your goods and services, I don't see any benefit to an association not-for-profit having an official presence on any of the social media platforms. Get a website and start there if you insist, but do note that a significant percentage of HOAs that have websites discover that almost nobody will use it, or they will use it for very limited purposes (download documents, forms, etc.).

Now if you want to talk about drone restrictions for HOA property, that's going to be a thing before long.
