We are on the quest to find out and learn more about managing and operating our 107 unit townhouse co-op community. We are new to this site and this is our first post. We welcome any input to point us in the direction of finding others on this site that have similar communities.

First and foremost: Read and understand your governing documents.

Then: Read and understand the applicable State laws (which, if incorporated, include corporate laws)

A few questions:

You say co-op community. Does this mean that you are or are not covered under the davis-stirling act?

Are you currently on the Board of Directors?

Welcome to HOATalk, Russell.

Here one site for CA Co-ops: http://www.cccd.coop/info/types_of_coops/

You probably also fall under the Davis-StirlingAct, which applies to all Common Interest Developments (CIDs) in CA.

Go to the website that is managed by a CA HOA law firm and you'll get a lot of your questions answered: davis-stirling.com

I'm still relatively new myself and from my limited time here my impression is that there are not a lot of people who live in co-ops. Hopefully you'll find some because the level of discourse here cannot be beat.

Also, who's "we"? That just reads odd.
