We had a home buyer attend an HOA Meeting with the home seller. The buyer got so excited he put his name up for BOD Election. The Election Committee was scrambling to find out if he was eligible. He finally clarified that he was closing on the house tomorrow.........LOL.....not eligible.

Home Owner buys a second floor unit. Spends $15,000 to install Exotic Hard Wood Floors throughout. Downstairs neighbor complains due to excessive noise. 2nd floor owner asks, "Can my HOA really do this"? She soon received her answer.

Upstairs Unit Owners spends $4,000 on carpet to cover $15,000 floor. 2nd floor Owner sell Unit 30 days later and eats twenty grand in flooring alone, plus whatever was spent on the kitchen and two bathroom remodeling job.

Downstairs neighbor buys Upstairs Neighbor Unit, at market price, including upgrades!

A renter plants "plastic" flowers into the flower beds around the home... That was a fun letter of violation to write...

Those are funny. But sorting out the fun from the sad may not always be easy.

YCC #137 v Hayes 2012 ONSC 4590 http://canlii.ca/t/fsb78 Senior lady Director & condo Board Secretary finally driven over the top in 2011. Judge rejects her corporation's attempt to either unseat her from the Board nor order the forced sale of her unit after run-ins with other senior owners - some caught on video - with a disturbing recurrent CAT theme :

" [9] . . . the respondent ( lady Director ) came to Ms. X's door and forced her way in. . . The respondent threw a box of flea powder, hitting Ms. X in the face. When the respondent was asked to leave, she used both hands to push Ms. X so that Ms. X fell back . . . The respondent refused to leave and had to be forcibly pushed out the door.
[10] About one week later, Ms. X . . . encountered the respondent in the condominium’s elevator. The respondent was pushing a metal shopping buggy filled with cat food. The respondent began hitting Ms. X with the buggy, hitting her in the legs with the buggy five or six times before Ms. X could get out. . . "

Imagine what a mediation attempt would have been like ! the mediator's legs bitten & scratched . . . . the furniture and curtains ripped up. . . cat litter everywhere . . .

Well, it is unfortunate, but they do call it a "Cat Fight" for a reason, I guess.
