I am curious if the HOA in NY can lose their liquor license if a homeowner serves a resident a glass of wine when the regular bartender is unavailable

Never heard of a HOA with a liquor licence.

That said.... if the liquor enforcement didnt see it happen and no one got a DUI or accident, no, they will not loose their liquor licence.

I don't know about losing a liquor license, but it seems to me a very bad policy to permit anyone other than the employed bartender to pour drinks. I'd think it'd be the same as If I went behind the bar of my neighborhood hangout and served drinks to my pals.

I do know HOAs in say, Palm Desert, that have clubhouses with bars & restaurants in them, which employee bartenders, servers, etc.

In most states, allowing anyone who is not both an employee and a licensed mixologist can get the bar (or restaurant) in serious trouble.

What has the HOA done to you that this is even an issue? Are you kidding me? What a sad life if this is a problem.

The HOA has done nothing to me.
It was a simple question
If you have an answer, then I thank you.
If not....

I suspect that, if a complaint was made to the relevant authorities, the outcome would be a very stern slap on the wrist.

I know of no state that requires a bartender to be licensed. There are bartender that are qualified/certified as they went to bartending school but that is not a license.

Thanks for the info. Read it close and it says MAST training is required within 60 days of hiring thus in the case of the OP, even if in WA, his neighbor could still have poured a drink.

I have heard that bartenders do need to carry liability insurance. At least, in one organization that I belonged to, that was a requirement.

I can't stop laughing! It looks like several states have enacted such certification requirements. Wisconsin is the only state to call it a "license". I can assure you that in New York there is no such thing. Thank goodness it's a minority of states that have resorted to such stupidity.

Sorry I didn't answer your question with the answer you were looking for. I am glad to hear you don't have a beef with your HOA. I can't imagine living in your particular HOA if this is a problem.

When an individual such as yourself singles out such an egregious act by another member of the HOA, the only choice you, yourself has is to either, have them pour you one too, or make a formal complaint to your local liquor board.
