Our by-laws state that the annual meeting is to take place on the first Tuesday of April. However, I made the error of somehow thinking it's the second Tuesday. I sent a notice to the community advising that the meeting will be on the 14th of this month. I've checked the by-laws and Ohio Revised Code and nothing is mentioned about rescheduling to a different date. The by-laws do mention the time is at 7:30pm, but can be changed at the discretion of the board. If it says that the time is flexible, but not the date, does this mean the meeting *must* occur on the date specified?

Honest mistakes are allowed in life. This won't cause any decisions to be nullified or for you to be burned in effigy.

Keep the date. Apologize for the mistake and don't repeat it.
I doubt anyone will be upset about the issue.
If they are, ask why why are upset and explain the error and that notice requirements prevented correcting the mistake this year.

Thanks for the responses, all. I failed to keep the new date due to meeting place complications and rescheduled yet again to a later date, so it turned out to be no big deal after all. I am a bit anal when it comes to not following rules to a T, but, in this case, anything can happen to change the date of the annual meeting (weather, construction of original meeting place, etc).
