If you have private streets why are you using city speed limits as a guide? I believe you can control the speed at whatever you want it to be on your private streets. But how are you going to enforce it? As far as speed bumps: they will also slow down emergency vehicles, unless you leave open spaces in the bumps for them to drive thru, which means all your residents and visitors will do that too. We have speed bumps on our city streets with those open spaces, so now everyone drives down the middle of the streets to avoid the speed bumps. Harold

If your streets are private, then the police most likely will NOT come and give tickets. They aren't paid to monitor your steets and thus won't enforce anything. Consider your streets like a store parking lot.
If the BOD adapts rules about no speeding, then a resident can report the car and the license plate to the board to enforce that rule. That's about the only thing you can do.
Speed humps require a certain amount of traffic (100 cars an hour as example) and the city to put them in. Emergency vehicles do NOT like them and they slow them down. You will need to go to the city and read their qualifications before deciding on adding this expense.

Speeding is always an issue within communities. Unfortunately most of the time it is the Owners thenselves that speed. Speed humps become a maintenance issue as well, as detracting from the community. Sending correspondence to Owners to slow dow, along with signing an "appointment of police officers to act as agents" will allow the police department to come onto your property and issue tickets as well as arrests. I would call your local police department speak with either your community officer or the Captain and ask what they can do to assist, if anything.

Thank you ,I tried the City but they never told me to contact the police, when I understand right we have to invite the Police in to our community. Thank you so very much DorisB
