Looking at the best way to get emergency responders gate access and this product looks nice. I have some calls into the local rep for more info but was wondering if anyone here uses it?

Basically it mounts in conjunction to your gate system uses the emergency responders radio frequency to open your gate. They click their Mic twice and the gate opens if I get this right.

Right now we have a mess of remote clickers and keypad codes that get mixed up with other communities or lost. This seems to solve that problem?

Will the FD use it? What is their preference? Many places use the ubiquitous Knox Box.

RS,

Start by checking with the Fire Department. I do not live in a gated community but the ones in Phoenix all seem to have a key lock marked "Fire Access." I assume that one key fits all such locks and every fire truck has a key.

Any emergency access system is likely to fail if emergency responders do not know how to use it. Click2enter will likely fail unless there is some sort of sign at the entry to inform fire personnel as to how to operate it. Merely telling the fire department will be insufficient because there is no guarantee that the people who respond will have the information.

Just an example: I know of a self-storage operator who gave his fire department a keypad code to enter. There was a fire in the middle of the night but the firemen could not get in because no one on the truck knew the code or even that there was a code. They ended up cutting a lock off a walk-through gate and dragging hoses to the fire.

We and all the high rises around us use the Know Box that Mark mentions. Google it for more, RS8.

We use an SOS box from sosgate.com. The PD or FD does a "yelp" on their siren and it opens the gate. We also have a knox box for the FD.

I think this is a great idea and if it catches on will be a valuable resource for PD and FD. I would think a simple "click to enter" sticker would be sufficent to alert the responders this technology exists at your property. Training would have to be done on their end to make sure everyone was aware of the system and how to use it.
