Hi Folks,
I am not seeking advice or giving advice with this post but hopefully educating JohnC46 on my geographic location within the U.S. specifically within the State of Iowa. So let me please educate him and maybe others will be enlightened as well. I do not live in an agricultural area that employs seasonal workers on a regular basis. I live in an area where the crops are beans and corn and where livestock is raised. These crops are harvested with machinery not manual labor. There are no slum houses for seasonal workers in my area but there is a mixture of nice homes and run down homes.
I live by a lake in the middle of farm country. There are several small housing developments around the lake similar to mine. Living here is probably not for everyone just as city living is not for everyone. I am a country girl at heart. I've never lived in a town larger than 20,000. I like it because it is peaceful and quiet. We like the recreational opportunities that are close by. The closest town with a Walmart (lol) is 20 miles away and has a population of 5,000.
In my humble opinion, because of the agricultural and rural/recreational mix of the area, CC&R's and HOA's are not as desirable as where some of you regular posters live. So that is where I am coming from in some of my posts.
