Hello all-

Do any of you use post cards for mailings for meeting notices and maintenance violations? It would be so much easier than stuffing envelopes and cheaper as well. Thanks

Postcards would be good for routine notices, such as meeting announcements.

I am not so sure that they would be a good idea for giving notice of a maintenance violation. It seems like such a notice should be kept confidential until the violation is sustained. Also, the limited amount of space on a postcard would make it difficult to give sufficient notice as to the violation and the owner's rights to challenge the allegations.

Without checking, I believe our own docs and also CA civil code state that certain material must be sent 1st class mail. I'm pretty sure that includes meeting notices if you aren't permitted to simply post them in common areas.

Since you're in FL, Allison, which similarly tries to give H/Os al lot of support, your laws may be similar to ours. Better check! Also check to see if there are certain items that may be emailed to H/Os with their written consent.

We do not use post cards. Personally, I believe that a post card is easily overlooked as junk mail.

We do utilize friendly reminders for informal notification of violations.
These are duplicate forms that has one with a post-it like adhesive which is placed on the members door.

Again, these are informal notices. If a formal notice is required, then a letter is sent.

We do use postcards for quick announcements that do not warrant a full letter. Larger print, bright colors, etc. for our association a post card mailing saves about $75 dollars vs a single page mailing in an envelope.

The post card mailing rate is still considered first class mail according to the USPS.
