Just wanted to thank the moderator or moderators on this site. You have done a excellent job over the years. It has stayed one of the best sites for the HOA community. I truly appreciate that you help make sure this site stay a place where HOA members or potential members can get BOTH views of HOA living. There are not many sites where Board members can be board members. They can receive advice or give advice without criticism for doing what they do. Regular HOA members can also learn why their board makes the decisions they do or what they may face running for a board position.

Thank you again and I am sure other posters on here appreciate the work you do. You have always been fair and even punished us if we crossed a line. I know I've had my hand smacked a few times and most likely deserved it. But good parents do that...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

So I'm curious, Melissa, or anyone else:

Did the mods remove the thread about whether small HOAs' boards should have Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance? It was there yesterday or the day before, I looked something and returned to contribute the info, but can't find it. What happened? Or Am I not looking hard enough?

The mods may have removed it due to the issues with the responses. They removed many of the posts for the lawsuit for NC as well. Hopefully, those seeking advice can repost their questions. Once a post goes out of control, they tend to delete and remove posts causing the issue. It clears things up and gets back to the point.

Hmmmm---interesting, but the several posts concerning D&O insurance that I read seemed OK. Something must have happened later. Can anyone help?

Add it as a new topic and repost it. We do not mind having another go at the issue.

Moderators do have a thankless job sometimes.

My question, if appropriate, is that I see some people have commented (if you look on the front page) but then you click on the actual thread to read their posts/responses and they are not listed. Can I assume they are somehow blocked or something?

I truly find the posts on here very enlighting. As a board member for the last 4 years, I have longed for a forum just like this so I can read about issues other HOAs and their boards' are having. It really helps my sanity to know that I might not have the biggest issues like some of the other HOAs on here.

I've noticed the same thing, Jerry, where I'll I'll see the name of the last person who posted, but then that person's post is not on the thread. I draw the same conclusion as you do.

Anyway, I'm glad this forum is useful to you!!

I am a fairly recent newcomer to this forum and I am glad I found it. I am amazed at the varied issues people have posted about. I just wish I had been active in my last HOA (a 2-tower condo of 680+ units in Hawaii). I was there for 6 years and never even attended 1 meeting. Now, I find that I mostly enjoy being on the board. I think I have gained the confidence of a majority of homeowners with the job I have done. But I am always looking to improve. I am the first one on our board to ever have a session to discuss goals and ambitions for each new year. Last year, it resulted in us changing management companies.

Thanks again Moderators for a great forum! And to the great posters with good questions/issues.

All,

You know how I like to do research. Based on this research, what has transpired here over the past few weeks and what is presently occurring, I do have a theory.

Some of you may recall a post from HOATalk a few years ago (it's taken me awhile to locate it). That post informed the forum of a new procedure/policy where HOATalk would start banning individuals from posting if needed.

I was also able to locate where forum members started a thread called Reaction to "New Banning Procedure". Based on comments in that thread, HOATalk amended the procedure.

I believe that we are all aware, as Melissa pointed out, that there have been several posts and threads deleted over the past week or so. Based on what people are observing (and mentioned in this thread), It appears that HOATalk has taken the next step.

I know that this has happened in the past (some may recall a similar thing occurring with a member from FL who worked as a property manager). It appears that it may have happened again.

Unfortunately, it appears that the process also eliminated some good discussions (the D&O thread Kerry commented on, perhaps others) along with the posts that, I believe was all can agree, needed removed.

I just noticed that there were a lot of old threads revived today with the last post attributed to Emma but when I opened the threads there is no post from Emma, as if her posts have been deleted.

I think they may have done a block. However, she is trying to bring up old posts to revive them. It looks like they are from those she had issue with. So I am sure she is trying to "expose" people by doing that. No problem opening my old threads... I still stand by my words.

I still appreciate the hard work the moderator is having on this issue. I know it was not an easy situation. Hope things will continue to get better and we can all go to enjoy the holidays....

Oh wait... Just noticed Emma's revived posts are to expose me and make look bad. Looks like I am "worthy" of harrassment again but it is not harrasment if Emma does it. I guess I am the bad one here... Funny! Love it! Well it obvious who she blames for her issue... Taking one for the team.:-)

It just shows what board and former board members are not perfect and human. Hopefully, if you have a good laugh at my expense at these old posts of mine. Some of them are pretty funny and awful. Once in awhile you have to be human and not put on some kind of HOA pedastool that only superheros can attain... That was a joke.... All good... Nothing to see here... Move along... LOL!

Actually, I am fond of the "conducting board meetings in a bikini". Think I will have that put onto the next agenda.

We sometimes have our meetings at a local bar. We do not have an HOA-owned clubhouse. When I joined the board, we met at a local Panera's Bread. Then one person said, "No one ever attends our meetings. We might as enjoy a beer while we conduct our meetings." Since then we will meet at a local pub (we just had one last week there). We do hold our annual meetings in a local school or rec center.

Who was doing the spamming by activating the old posts?

Was someone recently banned?

Give me a hint.....LOL

I think the name rhymes with "hemma"
