Recently one of our offsite owners moved back to our complex. She lived her years prior and has a history of not necessarily being the most problematic individual, but has been called to a few special hearings, fined for lack of response to correction letters, most recently was caught using our facilities while she had a tenant here etc, and she currently has pre lien papers being filed for back dues. She does have a bit of a history having challenges living in a condo as some do.
That is not the issue but the background I feel is necessary. With moving in she has a child about 6-7 buy our guess that seems to be kinda left unsupervised. This little child is extremely polite, but honestly something isn't clicking right. The board members have witnessed slightly unusual things that may not be breaking rules, but raise a concern for the child's safety. The little one has been seen riding their bike on our street alone, that may not sound scary but if you did a search online of sexual predators in our area, you'd reel your child in real quick. The same little one was asked not to ride in our sub-terrain parking garage by a resident ( security gates are in place ) but when asked where is your mom, she said upstairs. ( 4 flights up )
Yesterday I left our building noting a little kid sitting our grass area ( where most of the resident pets urinate) in front of the building with a bike. I came back 2 hours later and the same child was sitting there talking to unrecognizable people. This child was id'd as belonging to our return owner. One board member and thier friends saw them riding on the street with no parent near by. When asked where is your mom.. oh upstairs, don't worry, I have a key to the building.
The other day heard a boom outside my unit, like someone fell, It was this little child riding her bike on our 4th floor walkway. They had fallen.. its the collaboration of our buildings board members that have brought this concern together.
While no real rules have been broken with the exception of riding a bike on our catwalk, we are very concerned about the well being of this unattended child. Our city isn't necessarily the safest area, we have known sexual predators who live locally, it's a google search away, and the fact they are left to ride thier bike without a helmet even.. greatly concerns us. But really what can we do?
Some individuals just don't have common sense , we get that, but the safety of this little one is at risk, and it's been brought up by more than a few residents here.
