There is a large stain (I think someone spilled some pop) at our entryway. One company has tried twice to clean the stain with no avail. Does anyone on this site have any suggestions on how to get rid of this stain.
It is probably about 2 or 3 feet square.

Try coke. It cleans up blood. You can try vinegar and, baking soda. A Tsp mix...

club soda

bleach

cat litter and stiff brush and 'elbow grease'

hi-alkaline detergent

any of the above in combination

or

be happy, don't worry

if you have time to be concerned about a spill on the roadway you are very very fortunate

Try powdered Tide detergent.
Place it on the stain dry and let it sit a few days (this allows time for the powder to draw the stain out of the concrete. After a few days, wet the powder into a paste, scrub with a wisk broom, rinse. Repeat if needed.

You can also do an internet search for how to clean stains on concrete for other ideas.

Sorry, I guess I didn't explain. When I said entryway I meant the entryway in our building. The stain is on the carpet not the roadway. I wish it were on the roadway then I would not be as concerned about it.

White vinegar should work... Also cornstarch may work after apply the vinegar and then sweep up.

I might sound a little harsh by saying this, Bonnie, but your carpet stain is not a issue for HOA leaders. It's a a topic for all kinds of folks in all kinds of settings. Follow Tim's advice and google Removing Carpet Stains.

On the other hand, if it's worn and/or faded and has neared the end of its estimated life on your reserves schedule, perhaps your board wants to replace it. And at an entryway, which presumably gets a lot of foot traffic, perhaps stone or vinyl would be better choices for the first several feet into the building.

An industrial carpet cleaning company such as a restoration company versus a home cleaner like Stanley Steemer.

I respectfully disagree with you in this situation. I did not give the whole story. Our contract with our cleaning company states they will spot clean as needed with no description as to the size of the spot. Since this is a spot, I thought our cleaning company would clean it. They refused because the head of the cleaning company said he interpreted a spot to mean the size of a baseball or less. Some other Board members wanted another company to remove the stain. The other company tried, but the stain is still there. At least our entryway got an extra steam cleaning.

The contract with our cleaning company is on the agenda of our next Board meeting.

I was thinking I might try to clean the stain and I want to emphasize MIGHT try to clean it.
The carpet is not worn or faded and I don't believe it is near the end of it's life.

I agree that stone or vinyl would better choices for the first several feet into the building but I doubt our Board would agree to that at this time. I could mention it at a meeting to see what others thought.

Thanks John. I may mention that at our meeting this Tuesday.

Your HOA is a COMMERCIAL CORPORATE operation.

If you want 'mickey mouse' go to Orlando.

You need a COMMERCIAL cleaning company.

food for thought:

How do they keep the carpet at an office building clean?

Thanks for the reply. The cleaning company we have a contract with does office cleaning. Actually I wanted another company but I was outvoted by the married couple that was on the Board at the time. I know BAD BAD situation especially when the Board consisted of just me and the married couple.
Now there are 5 Board members with no married couple on the Board.

let the board as a whole deal with the stain

if I were you I would ignore the stain and let THEM address the issue

if no one cares, then the stain, by definition, is unimportant

PICK YOUR BATTLES MORE WISELY

my 'gut feeling' ~ sheeeez, a freak'ng stain on a freak'ng carpet ~ call out the troops

I would sell out as fast as possible and get away from the loonies running the bin.
