John (i.e. PitA),

I noticed that your post counter went to zero. This has been known to happen on occasion because of a glitch. However, it can also be an indication that you resigned from the forum.

Did you change your name again?

Tim I don't know either but I noticed that he is listed as the last poster in (A New HOA in South Carolina - http://www.hoatalk.com/Forum/tabid/55/forumid/1/postid/176709/view/topic/Default.aspx) but the post is gone. I wonder if he crossed the line?

I wouldn't think that he crossed the line anymore than some others.

JohnB, like Jon and others, has a unique posting style but the advice was normally correct (just a little rough it it's presentation).

I hope he just changed his name vs. leaving or being banned.

I read that post yesterday and it was worth deleting, due to name-calling, I thought he was rougher than usual. But would the moderators actually ban someone? Forever?

I know that they have banned in the past and will likely do so again in the future.

see: Subject: New Banning Procedure On This Site

Like Sally die, it appears the poster can come back by using a different user name.
They risk being banned again but, I would think, that it would depend on how they chose to act on the site. If you noticed, when Sally came back as Private, the moderators didn't ban her again, but did delete inappropriate posts.

I hope he's not gone... He owes me a margharita...Maybe he left for Mexico without me? Sally might have reported him as she was accusing him of reporting her to the mods at one point too. It was mess... I am guilty too. Everyone has a "sally/Mike" in their HOA. Just have to learn how to deal with them and hope for the best they learn too. That wasn't happening and it was best it ended. Our purpose still remains that we are here to support, educate, and learn from each other.

If so, shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Like Sally die, . . . .

Wow, bad typo. Should have read: Like Sally did, . . .

Melissa,

I think you are confusing the two Johns again.

Sally was accusing JohnC of reporting her, not JohnB.
I think past posts will also indicate that JohnC is the one who owes you a margarita

What would someone call "abusing the site"?

Richard,

Based on the moderators response when similar questions were raised about the new policy:

Thank you for the feedback.

We don't ban individual homeowners for coming here and asking questions.

However, there was a problem in the past with an 'anti-HOA' crowd trying to use this site as a soapbox, which is not productive for the members.

The point is that this is a place for the people that run and volunteer in HOAs/Condos to meet. Yes, individual homeowner questions can be useful as long as they are asked with a real interest in learning, not just coming here to complain.

I'll modify the note to be more clear.

I would be sorry to see JohnB leave the forum. Posters like John, both B(PitA), C usually and all other posters from SC have some pertinent information in their posts that would only apply to we South Carolinians. These answers always give me reason to delve deeper to find supporting information through other sources.

Besides, sometimes I get a chuckle from his posts.

I like to keep the drinks flowing... They tend to stop after one drops...

Hopefully, our Pita bread is watching even if he can not post... If you are... I like Vodka too and salute!

Defining someone as 'medically an idiot'.

I once told a foreman to "inhale my bodily fluids".

Since we were 'face to face' at the time and he actually was breathing 'common air' it was merely a statement of fact.

I was reinstated with full back pay ~ nice 3 day vacation.

Words have meanings, different words have different meanings ~ my point is the written word must be read without 'interpretation' and taken literally UNLESS the writer is KNOWN to be using sarcasm.

Johnathan Swift almost had me convinced that eating babies is acceptable.

ps. look up the (older) medical definition of "idiot"

id·i·ot
n.
A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

Glad you're OK, JohnB!

A big, burly, motocycle-ridin', hard drinkin', married-3-times, produced-3-daughters Texan, C. Wright Mills, who wrote in the 1940s & '50s said that idiots are those who do not actively participate in our democratic republic & society. The ones who sit on the sidelines and piss & moan. It's the opposite of the real (Greek?) meaning of "citizen."

I thought I was wrong, once, but I was wrong.
