As I head into first owner board meeting I have a quick question. Normally the minutes of a previous meeting are read and entered in to the record of the current meeting. We under went Developer to Owner transition, and there were no Owner members present at the last Developer meeting. This may seem like "spliting hairs" here, but I am not comfortable in "attesting" the minutes from a meeting that we had no part of. Any advice is welcomed.... My position is that the current board officers should enter the minutes into the record with a caveat that states that the meeting was conducted by previous developer board.

The way we have always done it is vote on approving the meeting minutes from the previous meeting. Vote to not approve it and bring up that very few people were present so you feel no one can confirm that the minutes are valid.

Jadedone, since no current Board member was present I suggest you not vote on approving the minutes of the last Developer's Board's minutes. Review those minutes and for any motions made at that meeting reintroduce them. The current Board can then either approve or disapprove each motion. Those actions will then be in your minutes which can be approved at your next Board meeting.

Excellent - I am a little rusty on Robert's Rules of Order, and wanted to make sure I was not "off-base" on this (as the MC is/was telling me....)

... growing tired and impatient to "miscommunication, and bad information from the MC" - but thanks to this forum I know that I can recieve objective advice and information.

Jade - by chance is this MC the one that the developer used too? Read recent posts here which talk about problems keeping the developer's MC after transition. Not a good idea. Harold

Harold, thanks for instructing me to "search" for the transition information here... now you owe me $5 for the large sized bottle of Exedrin that I had to purchase after reading the comments about Developer to Owner transition (the checklists are absolutely invaluable), and the "horror" stories that followed.

I am just hoping/praying that my board backs their President when the time comes to deal with the developer's MC.
