Question regarding cancelling board meetings. We have a board of 5. One member has to be absent for the next meeting and, pointing out that one other will also be absent, wanted the meeting rescheduled. When this was mentioned to me, I said that we are required to meet at our regular meeting day and time as long as we have a quorum. No one else has ever asked to have a meeting rescheduled for them before, and I don't like the possibility of this becoming a repeat occurrence. After all, if one person asks for and gets this, it wouldn't be a good idea to say no to others should the request be made again. Anyone else have experience with this kind of thing, or thoughts about possible ramifications?

Donna,

As long as the notice requirements are met, rescheduling meetings (for whatever reason) would be allowable. That said, I agree with you that once a meeting has been announced, it should be held. However, there are exceptions to that statement (weather being one of them).

Our Board sets dates of meetings based on the availability of members vs. a set schedule.
Typically, if there is a quorum, we will go ahead an meet.
