Florida man accused of setting fire to apartment complex after masturbation complaints

A Florida man set fire to his apartment complex after being asked to stop masturbating in front of his open windows and doors, police said.
Kenneth Haskins, disfigured from previously shooting himself in the face, allegedly torched his Tampa home's kitchen and bedroom Sunday night using a flammable liquid.

The flames then spread to other units of the Mar Plaza Apartments.

The 58-year-old started the blaze to "get back" at management staff who'd requested he stop sexually pleasuring himself in full view of other residents, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Four people were left homeless as a result of the fire. No-one was injured.
Haskins was arrested Monday morning on a charge of first-degree arson and is now being held in the Hillsborough County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Gee, who would have ever thought that a guy who would shoot himself in the face would ever do anything to harm others?

That is quite scary... A few years ago I had a man who liked to stand naked in his windows. Many people complained. He also exposed himself to a woman at the pool. It was completely pitiful that this guy was married with 2 kids AND a BOY SCOUT leader! It's NOT an easy situation to deal with. What I did was just spread it through the grapevine to NOT be alone with this guy. I had the "regulars" at the pool be aware to never leave a woman alone or let her know his "reputation".

Eventually he moved out. Just had to wait the guy out as he was a renter. I'd hate to think of this happening... You just never know how someone is going to act when confronted with an issue.

My brother was an EMT for an ambulance service. He could tell me some stories... One of them really stuck with me. A man decided to kill himself and shot himself in the face. He survived. However, he was basically missing part of his face. The EMT who came on the scene to save him had to give CPR. It wasn't pretty...

This is kind of why I am on the side of physician assisted suicide. The unfortunate fact is that most suicide attempts fail and come out with such dramatic results. They leave a person permentatly disfigured, in constant pain, or brain damaged. Our laws would never let this person "finish the job". Doctors, emergency responders, and good samatarians have to save their life or face a lawsuit. Not everyone has a signed witnessed DNR in their hands when they decide to off themselves.

There is a reality to the side of suicide when it comes to surviving it. This case, he most likely suffered some kind of brain damage effecting his social, personality, and reasoning skills. It was like living with a ticking time bomb.

Ah, war stories time. When I was going through paramedic training and riding with the local FD we had a teenager who's girl dumped him. To show her how much it hurt he stuck a shotgun under his chin. Had second thoughts just as he pulled the trigger and tried to move the barrel, ended up living but missing his jaw.

Studies show that 5 out of 4 people have problems with fractions
