I am having trouble finding information on destroying ballots after a BOD election. In the past, the ballots were put in a box held by the secretary, as a form of history. Is there any new Texas law that says that they must be destroyed in 30 days, if the election goes smoothly.

Mickey,

Regardless if the election was smooth or not, the ballots should be kept as part of the official records. We actually digitize ours and then destroy the original after one year.

As to any TX law specifying the length of time they should be kept, I can't say.

This should be covered in a document retention policy. If you don't have one you need to develop one.
