On this forum it is usually a copy of a document. When you click on the link it will then ask you if you want to open it with so and so program like Microsoft Word. If you agree the program will run (assuming you have the program on your computer) and you will be able to see the document. You will be able to save a copy of the document for later usage like to read, edit, print, etc.
I save those from this chat in a file called HOA CHAT DOCS.
