Please,

The CAI? Really?

They are a laughing stock when it comes to HOAs.

They are raping the folks who live in them, and they squirm around and claim it consensual.

Mike I certainly did not post this item for folks like you.

You don't have the mental capacity to consider the facts.

If you bothered to actually read the information or have someone else read it to you and explain it at a level you can hear the poll was conducted by a polling service NOT CAI.

My guess you have NEVER attended a CAI function but as always those internet postings provide you with all you know.

Thanks for your input even though it is worthless as usual....

as per page 8 of the linked document:

This document was developed and published by Community Associations
Institute. CAI is an international membership association
that works in partnership with 59 domestic chapters, a chapter in South
Africa and housing leaders in a number of other countries. CAI provides
three levels of professional education for community managers and an
extensive array of resources and learning tools for community association
board members and other homeowner leaders.

The CAI is a trade organization of service providers to associations.

They get paid for services.

The more services, the more money. Money which comes directly out of homeowners pockets.

They are busy with their 501(c) LOBBYING corp. attempting to get laws passed to extract MORE money out of our

pockets.

These guys are dangerous to our interests (folks who live in HOAs), have their hand on our wallets too often,

and are always seeking ways to dig deeper. They will attempt to extract even your equity and ownership of your home, often

for less than $200 dollars owed to the association. Just give em the chance!

These guys are vampires, parasites, and like the worst of parasites, often kill the host!

Mike,

Are you discounting the article based on what was written in it or are you discounting the article because of who sponsored the study and published it?

Of course, if your like me and don't participate in surveys, then your voice isn't heard or considered part of the data (except for the + or - x percent which I noticed isn't reported).

I thought it was interesting to read that 25% of those who responded did have a personal issue or disagreement with their Association. This certainly says something. It would be interesting to see what those issues were (enforcement, assessments, etc.).

From the report:

"Residents believe overwhelmingly that association rules protect property values."

The word "believe" implies a religious conclusion rather than a scientific conclusion.

If I live in an area where developers are required by state or local government to create an HOA and HOA's are founded on the religious belief that "association rules protect property values" this would mean that I have to accept a government-sponsored religion to live there. I would be subject to government-sponsored religious discrimination if I wished to purchase a home without the joining the HOA's religious community.

Just an observation.
