Our board has allowed a 12ft cross to be displayed on a board member's lawn by calling it a "landscaping feature". We only have 20 homeowners and the board has been hijacked by a few religious homeowners. We have many different religions represented among the remaining homeowners and many are unhappy about this situation. What can be done about this? I was threatened at the yearly meeting for complaining about the display.

EilennG, if it was approved by the Architectural Committee and does not violate the CC&Rs then there is nothing you can do which would get it removed. If it was not approved by the CC&Rs you can request it be removed. If approved but violates the CC&Rs you can request the Board take appropriate action. Also, if you really want to, you can take them to court (not recommended).
