How can you interrupt "Maintenance of the exterior of each unit, including the roof, exterior walls, and exterior building surfaces "of every kind", including the painting of such areas...

Could this mean that the HOA Association could/should assess each homeowner if exterior doors need to be replaced as to only being painted, if replaced, hinges, door locks/handles, peep hole, etc.

A HOA is only funded by its members for its members. So one would think if repairs need done you all contribute.

Franci, Is your quotation from a document saying that the HOA is responsible for the maintenance you list? Or is it saying homeowners are responsible for those items?

Our HOA is responsible for all exterior maintenance caused by normal wear and tear. Like when the roofs need replacing, the HOA will do it as it is normal wear and tear. If a brick falls off, the HOA will replace it as it is normal wear and tear.

If I hit and damage my garage door, I will have to pay to have it repaired. This is damage, not wear and tear.

Storm damage is not normal wear and tear. Repairs would be covered by ones own insurance.

Thank you for your input, we are going to ask our attorney for help in this matter as the HOA does not want to put out about $65K for the project.
