Hi everyone. Our HOA is looking for a new management company and all the reviews on Yelp or Angie's List are only about bad ones. Does anybody have a GOOD one they could recommend? We have a couple of ideas but would like to get at least three proposals. Thanks!

Traci,

Forum rules do not allow posting of companies. However, if you can provide an e-mail address, members can then send you their recommendations.

If you don't want to use your personal e-mail, create a new one with gmail, hotmail, etc. for this sole purpose.

Hope this helps,

Tim

Welcome to the Forum, Traci.

You might see about seeking referrals from board presidents at HOAs that're similar to yours in size & complexity in your area. Perhaps you or other Board members in your HOA are acquainted with directors at other HOAs.

For good ideas about what to consider, etc., visit davis-stirlong.com, Main Index, Manager. It's a wonderful source in case you're not familiar with it.

Sorry, didn't realize I'd asked an unanswerable question. Rephrase: If anyone knows of a good community association management company in San Diego, CA that services the North County inland area, my email address is [email protected]. We have a couple of proposals already, but would like to get a couple more. We are members of CAI so we're doing our homework, but if anyone has suggestions regarding things that we should perhaps include in the contract or look for in a proposal, I'd love to hear it. Already got a good suggestion elsewhere to make sure that we include a 60 day termination provision so we're not locked in for a year.

Whoops, for good tips about management contracts, etc., tips, go to davis-stirling.com (sorry about my earlier typo).

Our mgmt. contract includes a phrase that the MC wants in it. The MC is not obligated to follow any directions from the Board that oppose our governing documents or CA statutes. Though we on the current Board are decent people, I think the phrase helps protect HOAs from future Boards that may be abusive or secretive, etc.

We have a 30--day "out" clause in our contract. If things turn sour, 60 days can be an eternity.

My name is Hassan Udo. I am a nigerian prine and I would love a chance to run your association remotely from Nigeria. Please send $2,000 for an application fee for us to start processing your paperwork.

Just kidding.... lol.

If anyone knows of a good community association management company in San Diego, CA that services the North County coastal area, my email address is [email protected]. We are having trouble finding a company that is responsive, informed and proactive. Yelp lists a number of horrible companies, but we're looking for a well run company that charges reasonable rates. Thank you.

There are tons of people/companies that call themselves Property Management Companies. My advice to people looking for a Management Company is limit your search to those that can show they manage several associations similar in size and scope to yours. Contact those associations they manage and go from there. I do agree with the get at least 3 quotes.
