federal law prohibits these taxes that riverside county has been assessing condo owners in palm springs.we are asking for a refund of all taxes paid on our two condo units since 2000.if we get no response what is our best course of action to get tem to acknowledge our [email protected].

You should seek out an attorney in your area to explore your legal options.

Good luck in getting any of the money back. In this economy, the State needs the money as much as you do. I'd count it as a win if I just didn't have to pay the tax in the future.

Tim's advice is good. Get a legal opinion before going too far with this.

Before responding, I looked at the assessor's map in Maricopa County, AZ, as there is a large Indian Reservation on the east side of town. I found that tribal lands are not generally assessed at all but that there were some pockets of property within the reservation that had assessor's parcel numbers assigned, suggesting that they could be assessed.

My first guess is that the county may not assess tribal lands but if the land has been sold it may be fair game.
