Hello everyone:
I am the president of my HOA and we are in the midst of identifying multiple construction defects with units that are only four years old (mold halfway up an inside wall due to no water sealing is just one of them). Our management company has been of no help and has actually misguided us on several fronts causing serious issues, so I am looking for:
1) a new management company that is willing to manage smaller associations (we have only eight units). Does anyone have any recommendations?
2) a lew firm that specializes in construction defect litigation. Again, if anyone has any recommendations I would be appreciative.

Thank you!

Hunter,

Forum rules don't allow us to recommend any specific company or firm. What we can do is make suggestions on how to locate one and what to look for.

As for the attorney - contact the local bar Association.
Since your in LA, you can find more info at: The Los Angeles County Bar Association

You also might talk with owners of other smaller HOAs for mgmt. co. names. Otherwise search form mgmt. companies in your area online. Was your current MC hired by your developer?

At four years old, you do want to get moving quickly on possible construction defect action. You fall under the legislation known at SB 800. To learn more, go to Davis-stirling.com, Main Index and go to Construction Defects.

Use Tim's source to find a construction defect attorney. It's possible you'll get one or two to come to your premises to take a tour and give you some free advice. But I don't know given the size of your HOA.

Thank you both for your feedback. It was very helpful and I have found some great resources. Much appreciated!
