I own a vacant lot in a resort community in a very rural area where there are not many lawnservices. I covenants require the property owners to cut the grass before it get 8" tall, so I asked the farmer that owns a nearby home if she would cut my grass and she agreed. It turns out that the farmer and the developers have issues, as in the farmer was married to one of the developers, and the developers told me that they are going to prohibit the farmer from cutting my grass, and if I don't get someone else to cut the grass, they are going to cut it and charge me $75, although I'm getting it cut for $0 to $20 now.

Can the developers prohibit me from using the farmer to cut my grass?

I would say they cannot prohibit the framer nor anyone else from cutting your grass.

That said maybe they know something about this farmer and distrust her.

I suggest getting another lawn service.

Unfortunately, this place is in the middle of nowhere, so there aren't any nearby lawnservices. The only other person who agreed to cut the grass will charge $75.

I don't believe so unless there is a restraining order involved.

If you can't resolve the issue with the developer, you might want to contact an attorney to write a letter on your behalf.

Larry,

Assuming that this is the same developer you wrote about in another thread, it sounds like you are dealing with a bully who will ruin your life and those of your neighbors for two reasons: 1) He can; and 2) he knows that neither you nor your neighbors will stand up to him.

I am surprised John would suggest you cave in to a ridiculous threat like that. They are out of line. You have a perfect right to contract for services with whomever best fits your needs.

LOL, No. You can hire anyone you want to cut your grass. Ignore the threat.

Ignore the threat and call the sheriff when easement onto your property is blocked.

If the developers have turned over maintenance responsibilities to the individual owners they can no longer restrict who does the work.
