I had an idea. Since we do have quite a few regulars on here now. Most of us preach that we are here to promote EDUCATION of HOA's. We find that educating posters helps solve most issues they may have with their HOA. It may be should they sue or how does my HOA operate/or fix it? Some HOA's even offer workshops just to educate members.

What I thought is that us regulars can start one topic a week. Let's name it "HOA Lessons - Topic to discuss". For example: HOA Lessons - HOA Budgets. Instead of answering any direct questions fill in some educational points about budgets. They are usually needed once a year and cover the expenses for that year etc...

These HOA lesson posts could just be a place to put some reference materials. I remember having a poster thinking there were such things as "HOA professors" or professionals in this field. There really isn't. HOA's are run by volunteers who's only requirement is to be an owner.

What do you think? You have any topics you would like to educate people about? It's just an idea as we do sometimes see the same thing over and over again. It may help posters better as well.

Sure there is. Everything in the world has a trade group and classes taught by professionals.

I like this idea! We could also add some sort of "Lesson Learned" topic where we talk about a project or problem faced by our HOA and how it was resolved.

Steve, the CAI information is fine (I represent my HOA in a local chapter), but this would be a good way to supplement what they offer, especially since the membership fee may be too expensive for tiny HOAs.

Melissa, Great idea. We'll also support you this way: Go ahead and do a couple of these "HOA Lessons" topics and as each one looks ready to post, make a request to us via the form under Help on the menu. We'll pull these out into their own reference area (we'll figure out a place to display them). Then you all can point people to them as they come here for advice. You can also keep adding to the topic over time.

I like it!
Thank You

Actually, most of this has been done in several threads already.

If the threads already exist, then the HOA Lessons thread on that topic could refer to the other threads and maybe contain a summary of the info in them. You all decide what's best and let's us know. Thank You
