We are considering adding a community wifi network for our Clubhouse and pool. Similar to what you see at McDonald’s. What are the pros and cons? Will the HOA have liability if a resident uses it for downloading songs illegally or visiting porn sites etc? Thanks.

How many McDonald's have been prosecuted in either civil or criminal actions because someone downloaded music or looked at porn?

We found a very interesting way to make this happen in our community clubhouse. We asked Cablevision/Optimum cable, our phone and internet provider, to hook up one of their standard wi-fi routers in our clubhouse. So any optimum cable subscriber who has a login with optimum can now login to the wi-fi network and access the internet. No liability to the Association.
