Does anyone have experience(pros and cons) of that CARD system that one can use to enter a pool gate lock or other locks.
I am referring to the system whereby one can use a card and NOT sliding it but just showing it and it unlocks the gate to
the pool gate..... fitness center door....etc.

I have seen one today but did not like it as I could use my hand to actually push in the part of the lock and get into the pool
area.

I was not able to talk to anyone there to find out if one had to tear up the pool decking to get the wiring in..... digging up
concrete to lay wiring, etc.

If one uses a card and shows it in front of the "lock",it will open and somehow that lock MUST have a connection of some type to
a computer type machine someplace.... if someone is or has not paid their dues, we can cut them off from entering the pool area, etc.

In this world of HIGH TECH... there must be a system whereby it is wirerless.... but maybe not.

We have such a system, Alex, but I don't much about it technically. Residents present the FOB to the readers, which lets them in the pool area, gym, doors & gates to the premises, to elevator floors, etc. I don't think you'd have to dig anything up for wiring as we installed one not long ago at the door to our Business Center.

Not only can they be deactivated when we (the Board) suspend privileges, but when residents move away It also could help if damage is done to, say, the computer for residents in our Business Center. Management can identify who'd used the room most recently and perhaps find out who did the damage.

I do think the systems are expensive--sorry I'm not of more help.

We installed a system sold by IEI (International Electronics Inc.)Prox.Pad. You can go wireless or we went the cheaper route of programming at the source. It's real easy to use and install. About $3000.00 installed with 300 proximity cards you can also get fobs but they cost about twice what a card cost.Hope this helps.
