ok so there's a new system called pur chlor is the greatest thing if your trying to lower the cost on your pool. It does almost everthing for you with out the side effects. it makes pure chlorine, no by-products. so there no oder, no red eyes, and it wont harm your pool equipment, waterfalls or landscape. And it does the pH. too. check out there web site www.purchlor.com or you can give me a call at 602-803-8822

Aaron, read the rules of this board - your post is advertising. I would not do business with you.

RogerB - It appears that Aaron was just trying to help HOA members with pools, his phone # is different than the one on the purchlor website he posted. Not for nothing but aren't you advertising as well? You have the name of your management company, email and phone number. Additionally, I fail to see the relevance of your statement that you would not do business with him.

I found the info useful but maybe it should appear in an 'advertising' section?

Yes. DARCO was invited to be a sponsor on HOAtalk.com. Joe, I hope you appreciate the financial support of the sponsors.

Hi:

I'm not advertising, this is just as an information piece.

I've been through the local "pool seminar" twice in the last four years. There is a system that uses electrolysis to generate chlorine to clean the pool; the pool water has salt in it (sodium chloride) and the systems are designed so that you don't normally have to add any additional chlorine. You have to keep the pH balanced along with a few other things, but it greatly simplifies the pool operation, and helps to avoid the red eyes (which is more of a pH matter than a chlorine issue) and feels more natural when you swim.

The State of Oregon is slowly moving toward a requirement for this kind of system, as opposed to the traditional chlorine systems. The system can be computer controlled, and set up so that it notifies electronically (pager, email, etc.) if the pool chemistry is going beyond normal parameters, so that maintenance people can take care of a problem. It also serves to chart pool chemistry electonically so that it doesn't have to be read by a human every hour when the pool is open.

The intial cost is higher for this type of equipment but it pays for itself over time with less pool chemicals needed.

RogerB - you are a sponsor and not the administrator of HOATalk. i hope you appreciate the members of HOATalk, that's why you're on here right? the guy was giving information, move on.

It sure sounded like blatant advertising to me. A first posting about a product that is described is such glowing terms that it sounds too good to be true. Then a website and a contact name and a phone number. Put it all together and it spells marketing.

Nothing wrong with that, except he should become a sponsor of this site like the other people who advertise here are.

PatrickH - oh i see. so in order for a member to pass on information that may benefit the HOATalk community, you say they should pay to do so. well if that's the case than the HOATalk administrator should filter all posts prior to being posted. blame the delivery system, not the messenger.

I have no dog in this battle, but the posting rules are clear, no advertising. Roger has had his stuff up here for a long time and is known as a sponsor on this board. I think it is a given when you post on a board you should read the rules, if you want to advertise a product then contact the board administrator and follow proper procedure.

As for the product itself, I am not famaliar with it so can't say anything. However, there are many, many automatic chemical feeders of varying degrees and sophistication that can accomplish the same thing. Foul pool odor is typically a by product of bad combine chlorine which happens when your total chlorine is not kept up on and red eye is a result of ph that is off.

Pools with high usage, especially outside will always have a hard time keeping up on pool chemistry, maybe this is the trick, but I don't know.

BradP - the terms of use state posters will not "Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose, unless such Communication Service specifically allows such messages." Yes Aaron committed a no no. However, if a sponsor is allowed to advertise, that's not in the terms of use for the general public to see. Hence my point to RogerB which for all intents and purposes was for the pot to not call the kettle black, and to simply move on. I will say that I take offense to his admonishment of Aaron when it was coupled with his statement that he "would not do business" with him.

That is something called a smooth ad! Don't be so gullible!

"OH, I just found something that works great. Blah, blah, blah! Here is my contact info if you want to buy. This board is great. Thanks for the help."

I can't believe you guys actually are telling Roger anything but thanks. Yeah, he might not be that admin. on this borad but he should. The one with the most info wins.(corrrect that is)
