I'd appreciate some help here. I'm VP of our association and we have an HOA meeting tomorrow night. I missed Dec. meeting, and was told no new business was brought up. There were only 9 people at that meeting, including 3 BM's,and I found out today that they they did have new business and possibly took a vote. They want to spend ALOT of money that we do not have, and we still need to pay our attorney. I will be holding the meeting tomorrow as our President will be out of town. The Secretary has already asked if she could do it.Can they take a vote without me knowing whats going on? Don't we need a majority of homeowners? Help, I'd like to know what I'm talking about at the meeting. Pattyb1

PattyB - a board vote needs a quorum of the board and typically must happen in an open meeting. your by-laws may not permit a board vote regarding spending if the amount exceeds a certain threshold or percentage of the budget. in that event, the vote would be amongst the owners. are you approving minutes at tomorrow night's meeting, you should be provided with a draft of the minutes, ask your MC, or Secretary for the draft. that way you can see what was discussed and voted on at the Dec. meeting.
